Monte 2020 website shows many positives
Aug. 7, 2009
A statistical study done on Montezuma shows a lot of positives about our community, and now they are available online at the new Monte 2020 website.
The website is www.monte2020.org.
During the July 28 meeting of the Monte 2020 vision team, a situation analysis task force headed by Vanna Bushong and assisted by Dawn Watson did a PowerPoint presentation.
Highlights included the following:
- A slightly declining population level.
- Median age of 42.8.
- Median household income of just over $40,000.
- About two-thirds of homes are owner-occupied.
- One third are renter occupied.
- A total of 12 homes were for sale in Montezuma in July 2009.
- Relatively high graduation rates and school ratings among peer schools.
- About 80 percent of the county-maintained recreation property is in the immediate Montezuma area.
- Net positive retail spending here.
- Sixty percent of the businesses in the Zip code have one to four employees, with favorable retention rates versus out-commuting for employment.
- A solid base of community services that are readily available.
The extensive presentation can be accessed by visiting www.monte2020.org. On the right side of the page, under "topics," click "Analysis of Montezuma."
The blog post that appears includes a link to the presentation.
Complete results of the 2020 survey and a survey of high school students also is posted.
